What BunnyRadio does

BunnyRadio is a time-shifted streaming service for free-to-air FM radio broadcasts. We make recent broadcasts available to stream for a limited time, so you can listen to what aired even if you were not tuned in live.

  • Streaming only — content is delivered via in-app playback. There is no mechanism to download, export, or save audio to your device.
  • Time-limited — all broadcasts expire automatically after 10 days and are permanently removed.
  • Full broadcasts — the service provides complete broadcast segments. Individual song extraction or track splitting is not offered.
EU private copy exception

BunnyRadio operates under the private copy exception established by EU Directive 2001/29/EC, Article 5(2)(b), which permits a natural person to make reproductions of lawfully accessible content for personal, non-commercial use. This is the same legal framework that underpins personal video time-shifting (PVR/DVR) of television broadcasts across the EU.

How it works

BunnyRadio provides the streaming infrastructure that enables EU/EEA subscribers to time-shift radio broadcasts. You select a station and time window; the service processes the relevant broadcast segment and delivers it to you as a personal, time-shifted stream. You initiate the request — BunnyRadio provides the infrastructure to fulfil it.

Requirements under the directive

  • Lawful source material — we process only free-to-air FM radio signals. These broadcasts are transmitted publicly over the airwaves and are lawfully accessible by anyone with a standard FM receiver, at no cost and without any access control. The vast majority of these stations also stream freely on the internet via their own websites, meaning the same content is already lawfully accessible to any EU/EEA resident online. Directive (EU) 2019/789 further confirms that radio broadcasts are lawfully accessible EU-wide under the country-of-origin principle. BunnyRadio is not a retransmission service under that directive — it does not relay broadcasts simultaneously or unaltered, and is therefore outside its licensing scope entirely
  • Personal, non-commercial use — access is limited to individual subscribers for personal listening. The service may not be used for commercial, public performance, or redistribution purposes
  • No content extraction — the service does not enable downloading, exporting, or individual broadcast isolation
  • Automatic expiry — content is permanently removed after 10 days. This uniform retention limit applies to all subscription tiers, ensuring the service functions as a convenience for time-shifted listening rather than a content library
  • All processing within the EU — broadcast processing infrastructure operates entirely within EU data centres

Fair compensation (levy system)

Article 5(2)(b) requires that rightsholders receive fair compensation for private copying. EU member states satisfy this requirement through statutory levies on devices and storage media (e.g., GEMA in Germany, Copydan in Denmark, Thuiskopie in the Netherlands). These levies are collected at the point of sale and distributed to rightsholders by national collecting societies. BunnyRadio's subscribers, as EU/EEA residents using personal devices, are covered by the levy system in their country of residence.

Geographic scope

BunnyRadio is available to EU/EEA residents only. Geographic restrictions are enforced at the infrastructure level. We offer stations from cities across Europe. The service operates under EU law and is designed exclusively for users within the EU/EEA jurisdiction where the private copy exception applies.

Intellectual property

Radio broadcast content is owned by the respective broadcasters and rights holders. BunnyRadio does not claim ownership of any broadcast content. Station names, call signs, and logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are displayed solely for identification purposes.

Content removal requests

BunnyRadio respects the rights of broadcasters and content owners. If you are a rightsholder and believe that content available through our service infringes your rights, please contact us at support@bunnyradio.com with the following information:

  • Your name and contact details, and identification of the rightsholder you represent (if applicable)
  • The station, date, and approximate time range of the content at issue
  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim is being infringed
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rightsholder

We will acknowledge receipt of your notice and inform you of our decision, including the reasons for that decision, in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065). Valid requests will be reviewed promptly and, where appropriate, we will remove or disable access to the identified content. Repeat or systematic infringement claims against a particular station may result in permanent removal of that station from the service.
